Premier Post
So, in my pathetic attempt to remain somewhat connected to the country where I left a large morceau of my coeur, I decided to blog. Afterall, it is rare to find friends in my new home who understand the emptiness of living an ocean away from the land that you love. Hence, le mal du pays anonyme. I confess that I am not sure what direction this blog will take, but certainly I will share any articles, thoughts, stories, etc. that make the span between where I am and France just a tad bit smaller.
My passion began years ago but was intensified last year as I spent a large portion of the year in a fabulous French metropolis. What do I miss? How about walking along the beautiful rivers lined with markets and nearly getting blown over by the wind as you cross over the many charming foot bridges linking the different areas of the city. Or, how about the smell of crepes and gauffres being made on the side of the road. Nutella anyone? There's nothing more precious either than a group of French school kids playing their French games on a playground. It took me awhile to get used to having a meal that seemed to go on to eternity, but what I would give at this very moment to be mid-meal and know that I probably still have a couple of hours before we even think about dessert. Admittedly, it is cliche, but the French work to live and "WE" live to work. The epic meals of my adopted homeland illustrate this concept. More on that...Well, that's it for now. Do I have any fellow sufferers of this malady?
